Hollywood Women Who Totally Rocked Tuxedos

When it comes to red carpets and Hollywood’s most famous women, we never really know what we are going to get. Breaking the “style mold” is something that is consistent within Hollywood Fashion, but staying true to yourself while doing it is what we think is sometimes easy to forget.

Wearing a women’s suit or tuxedo is not something that has been extremely popular in women’s fashion. We’ve seen a few here and there confident enough to wear them, but now we are seeing more of our favorites choosing to wear a suit or tuxedo (which is like a breath of fresh air). When it comes to “breaking the style mold” confidently, while still showcasing your individual style and personality, these women completely inspire us. Proving that wearing something different than what is expected isn’t a bad thing…it’s empowering.

Janelle Monáe.
Janelle is mostly known for her R&B music and vibrant voice. But something that is different about Janelle is that she is almost always rocking a women’s tuxedo. Janelle once said, “I bathe in it, I swim in it, and I could be buried in it. A tux is such a standard uniform, it's so classy and it's a lifestyle I enjoy. The tux keeps me balanced.” Janelle has also stated that she feels like it is her responsibility to show young girls that look up to her that it is okay to wear what you like and not feel bad about it. She stresses the importance (to her) of not believing in men’s wear or women’s wear, just simply wearing what you like to wear.

Anne Hathaway.
The award-winning actress broke records and TV screens by not only hosting the 2011 Oscars, but by wearing a tuxedo while doing it. Although the joke was showing a reversing of the roles as Anne “played the man” while James Franco dressed up in drag, she sure knew how to wear her tux in confidence. The glitter heals and cute pony tail really completed the look making her tuxedo an outfit we would actually love to wear.

Ellen Degeneres.
If it’s three o’clock in the afternoon you can pretty much assume nearly half of America is tuning into one of our favorite talk show hosts, Ellen. She has been in our homes for so many years now it is pretty much expected that she will always be wearing a stylish suit with a tie or trousers with a sweater and collared shirt (you know we’re right). That is just who Ellen is and that is one of the reasons we love her so much. She speaks up, isn’t afraid to fight for what she believes in and treats everyone the way they should be treated. Smiling over her Hollywood Star, (like the shining star that she is) it’s no surprise she looks well-dressed as ever in her grey ensemble.

Shay Mitchell.
Shay is commonly known for being on our TV screen every Tuesday night for the past seven years as Emily Fields (Pretty Little Liars). But did you know that Shay has upped her YouTube game and has a really awesome and entertaining lifestyle channel? Along with being incredibly talented, gracious and kind, Shay is truly a rising icon when it comes to fashion. She is one of those people who can pull of just about anything she wears. Which is why there is no surprise that she looks absolutely flawless in this blue valor suit. When we grow up one day, can we please look as good as Shay?

Fashion and style will always be consistently changing and growing. New trends appear not just every season now, but almost every week! With new generations and designers, we can only hope that the “style mold” keeps being pushed and broken and that the women we look up to for so many things continue to inspire and support us to be confident in what we choose to wear.
